NEW CONCORD, Ohio. - Saint Mary's College STUNT dropped both games at the Muskingum Tournament on Saturday, falling to Muskingum University 20-19, and falling to Malone University, 22-12. The Belles fall to 4-7 on the year.
Saint Mary's vs Muskingum
Saint Mary's and Muskingum battled back and forth throughout the first half with neither team being able to hold onto a lead. When one team took the lead, the other bounced back in the next round to tie the match, sending it to halftime tied at 5-5. Each team won three rounds in the first half while splitting points in one.
The third quarter was the same story as the first two. After splitting the first two rounds, the Belles took two points in round three while the Muskies took one, but the Muskies bounced back with two points of their own in the fourth round while holding the Belles to one. Sending the match into the final quarter, tied at 10.
Muskingum came out strong in the fourth quarter, taking the first round 4-1. Saint Mary's had strong rounds two through four, outsourcing the Muskies 8-6. But it wasn't enough as the Belles fell narrowly, 20-19.
Saint Mary's vs Malone
Malone dominated the first half, taking points in seven of eight rounds. Saint Mary's took home a point in each quarter, in round one of the first quarter and round three of the second quarter. The Pioneers went into the break with a 9-2 advantage.
Saint Mary's bounced back in the third quarter. The Belles outscored the Pioneers 6-5 in the quarter to close the deficit, heading into the final quarter trailing just 14-8. Both teams took points each round. Malone took two in the first round, after the teams split points in the second round, Saint Mary's took two points in both the third and fourth rounds.
Malone bounced back in the fourth quarter, outscoring Saint Mary's 8-4 to claim their 22-12 victory.

Saint Mary's kicks off their annual spring break trip as they head west to Newburg, OR to compete in the Pacific Northwest Open. The Belles will play four games over two days, starting on Friday, March 13, as they take on Northwest Nazarene University and the hosts, George Fox University. They wrap up play on Saturday, March 14, taking on Texas Woman's University and Hope International University.
